Announcing the New Executive Director

We are pleased and excited to introduce Robert J. Mitchell as our new Executive Director succeeding Larry Derkach who  retired May 31, 2018.

Robert has spent his entire career in the not-for-profit sector and has over 15 years of senior executive management and leadership experience. He started his career at the Boys & Girls clubs in the UK, eventually becoming CEO of Middlesex Young People Clubs. He moved to Canada in 2003 and after completing a number of local contracts became the Executive Director of the Independent Living Resource Centre in Calgary. A business purchase moved Robert and his wife Jill to Central Alberta and after Parkland Beach General Store was established, Robert had his first Edmonton experience by working for Volunteer Alberta as a Knowledge Connector consultant. His last position was as the CEO of United Way Central Alberta which he productively managed for over 6 years.

Robert is looking forward to continuing and expanding the great work of JFSE.
