 What is the position:

The Program Manager oversees the Edmonton Healing Center, which is the Counseling program within Jewish Family Services.  The Program Manager is responsible for the administrative management of the program, while also maintaining a small caseload within the program.

What you would do:

Program Manager:

  • Overall coordination of the JFSE Counseling program, the Edmonton Healing Centre
  • Conduct intakes for the program and assign intakes to your team of therapist
  • Maintain client records and statistical data required by the Agency to monitor the services they provide and to fulfill the requirements for accountability imposed upon the Agency by its funders and regulators
  • Lead the hiring process which includes posting jobs, scheduling and organizing a team to conduct interviews, and providing orientation and support to new staff upon hire.
  • Provide day to day staff support as well as scheduled clinical supervision time as needed or requested
  • Represent the EHC on the JFS Team Lead Advisory Committee
  • Field internship requests, interview and choose an intern, provide orientation and ongoing oversight and supervision
  • Organize monthly Therapist meeting agenda
  • Approve invoices that includes contract staff monthly billing and staff expenses
  • Approve emergency relief fund requests from therapists for clients in need
  • Renew annual contract for Contract Therapists

Therapist:

  • Maintain a small caseload within the EHC, working with individuals, children, couples, and families
  • Provide advocacy, support, and referral services for clients
  • Maintain current and comprehensive knowledge of community resources
  • Foster and maintain a network of community partnerships with other agencies to encourage collaboration with service provision.
  • Identify and participate in funding applications when relative to services, partnerships, and growth

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Psychotherapy, Social work, or Counselling is required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Psychotherapist, MSW, or Therapist
  • Specializations in complex trauma, grief and loss would be an asset
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
  • Registered with an applicable licensing body
  • Maintain professional liability insurance
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Reside in the Edmonton area to work in the JFSE office

 Ideal Start Date: April 1, 2023

Salary Range: $80,000 to $90,000/year

Jewish Family Service is seeking an MSW, Psychologist or Provisional Psychologist, registered in their respective professional college, for a Therapist position of approximately 15-20 hours per week, under an annual contract.  The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ previous experience.  Therapists are required to work in office, with the option to partially work from home, upon agreement with the Clinical Supervisor. We meet with clients in-person, by video and by phone.  

As the recipient of United Way funding, JFS has a mandate to work with clients across a broad range of presenting issues and thus we offer a sliding fee scale that makes our services more readily available to those without means or private insurance. People contact JFS for issues related to anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, trauma, violence, abuse, sexuality concerns, PTSD, relationship difficulties and other sorts of life challenges.

Our Therapists meet with adults, children, couples, and families. We offer specialized support for people who are grieving the loss of loved ones and thus, a background in grief and loss is a plus.  A willingness to learn about the therapeutic issues involved with grief and loss would be expected. Experience running groups would be an added plus.

We are looking for someone who is compassionate and kind, with good organizational and technical skills, who is able to start fairly soon.

Our hourly rate for contract therapists is $60.00/hr.

 What is the position:

The Case Manager position is a permanent full time position as a member of the Outreach Services team. This position conducts intake and assessment for clients across Outreach Services including Community/Newcomer Support, Senior Support, and Home Support-private clients. The Case Manager works in collaboration with the clients and advocates for the best interests and rights of clients throughout the entire working relationship to promote access to adequate resources and supports. This position shares the case management load with other caseworkers and Link Workers all of whom implement, coordinate, and monitor the goals and action steps outlined in the service plan. They work in a safe, efficient, and effective manner, to provide client-centered, strength-based, and equitable services that empower clients.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct client intake and assessment and develop a service plan connecting clients with community resources and services.
  • Arrange client meetings to review the service plan and coordinate the next steps. Currently, meetings can be arranged online or over the telephone. Meetings may be in person or be completed as a home consultation to accommodate client needs at the Case Manager’s discretion and following safety protocols Collaborating with other healthcare and social service providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • To facilitate client access to community resources, including housing, food, clothing, educational programs, vocational opportunities or services, providers to teach life skills, and mental health services. 
  • Work with the Outreach team to provide case management, attending and participating in team meetings and case conferences.
  • Advocate for the client inside and outside of the agency as requested.
  • Communicate with community agencies or partners and identify additional or alternative services to provide referrals and maximize assistance for clients.
  • Maintain current and comprehensive knowledge of community resources through networking and community engagement, professional development.
  • Follow up in a timely manner on their client activities and progress relevant to the service plan
  • Maintain client data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Diploma or degree in Social Work or related Human Services program (behavioral/social sciences or community services).
  • Five (5) years of experience in case management or related services that have provided a sound understanding and knowledge of working with clients from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with current community resources.
  • Cultural sensitivity and/or diversity and inclusion training required.
  • A second language is an asset.
  • Familiarity/understanding of Jewish culture and the Edmonton Jewish community is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare and social service systems

Salary: $24- $30 hour dependent upon education and experience

 Job Overview:

Reporting to the Home Support Coordinator, the Home Support Contractor provides in-home supports based on what the clients’ needs are. Services are provided in their home, seniors’ or retirement residence. Shifts may be scheduled between the hours of 8 AM and 7 PM and home support is offered every day of the week. Shifts are a minimum of 2 hours in length. Contractors may be scheduled for more than one shift/day and more than one shift/week.

Job Locations:

Home Support Contractors work in clients’ homes located throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.  Home Support Contractors are responsible for their own transportation. Having a safe and reliable vehicle is an asset.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

Client Support:

  • Support clients that may have limited mobility or medical needs which may include meal preparation observing dietary needs, house cleaning and organizing
  • Accompany clients outside their homes which could include going for walks, to a mall, and appointments
  • Maintain professional boundaries with clients
  • Transport clients as needed and if approved by Home Services Coordinator

Home Tasks include:

  • Dust, vacuum, wash windows and mirrors, mop floors, clean within the home, and wash dishes.
  • Wash and dry clothes and household linens, hang up or fold and put away if required
  • Conduct food and household shopping for clients if needed
  • Prepare meals and snacks.
  • Tidy and organize closets and cupboards
  • Care for clients’ pets if required

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum completed High School Diploma
  • Experience and training in housekeeping and client care
  • Current certification in: Safe Food Handling, First Aid & CPR, WHMIS
  • Have, or ability to obtain, a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Lifting of objects up to 25 pounds may be required
  • Compassion and patience when working with clients
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to follow instructions and attention to details
  • Reliable and excellent time management
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset. $2M PLPD
  • Fluency in English is preferred and ability to speak another language is an asset

Rate of Pay:

$20/hour.  Mileage will be paid if transportation of client is required.  As a Contractor, you are responsible for paying your own government deductions including income tax.
